I played around with using higher baud rates.

My outcome was I couldn't get 921.6k to work. 230.4k and 460.8k downloaded the firmware ok and did most commands but could not decode the local chip name (only 217 of the 255 bytes were received).

If you want to play with this, let me know and I will post what I have.

Paul, I would like to now try higher baud rates. Thanks, Mark.

Hi Mark.

Please find attached my test program.

A few notes :-

The document http://www.cypress.com/file/298311/download specifies two methods of setting the baud rate, encoded and explicit. The encoded does not work on the PI3 so use the explicit.

Note :
I had a look at how BlueZ does it and they use the encoded form so I don't know how that works (I may have an old version of the source) and they also had an error for the values of one of their baud rates.

When the firmware is loaded and the chip is reset, it will default back to 115200.

Any queries, let me know.

Regards

Paul

Paul, I'm going to order for myself a package of estimote sticker beacons. Are there other estimote products that you think I should consider? Thanks, Mark.

Don't know.

I was given the beacons by a colleague.

Was thinking about something Eben said about making something smaller than a Zero.
Zero without HDMI/Header? with WiFI/BT combo.

Anyway without WiFi working yet could a status page be viewed via BLE?
Is there such a thing as SLIP over BLE?
