New Raspberry Pi 3 A+ now supported

Postby Ultibo » Sun Nov 25, 2018 12:53 am

The newly released Raspberry Pi 3 A+ is now supported by Ultibo core, to take advantage of the new support please update your Ultibo RTL to at least 2.0.511 or later.

For details of how to apply the latest source to your Ultibo core installation and rebuild your run time library see the wiki page Building from Source or watch the Building the RTL video on YouTube.

EDIT: Just to clarify, after this update any Ultibo project created for Raspberry Pi 2B or Raspberry Pi 3B/3B+ will also work on the Pi 3A+

Recently upgraded work PC to Windows 10, it does not like the rebuild from source instructions :(
Is it possible to get a new Windows binary made that includes the 3A+?
'make' is not recognized as an internal or external command.....

That usually means that you forgot the step that adds the fpc binaries to the path,

Code: Select all

set path=C:\Ultibo\Core\fpc\3.1.1\bin\i386-Win32

We just retested on Windows 10 and the Lazarus build instructions from the Wiki still work correctly.

Thank Garry, will try that.
Got a Uni installed version, the different install/protection stuff drives me nuts, permission changes 20 times a day ;)

Win10 sucks, no "make".
Building Ultibo from source in Win10 is not fun.
Was trying to update Ultibo for 3A+.

Time to ditch Windows, it is easier on Linux/Pi's now.
Garry, time to update the Windows binary install?

It works fine for me with the official install and the update procedure. Just keep it standard and don't mess with settings that much.

Started from the win...exe install and updated the files and rebuilt.
Must be doing something wrong, no 3A+.
Think i will give up on Win10.
Anyway time to go home and play with the Pi4 which works, I think?

As noted at the start of this thread Pi3A+ support is delivered in an RTL update so there is no need to rebuild FPC or Lazarus in order to create projects that run on 3A+. You also don't need to see 3A+ listed anywhere in Lazarus, simply choose the Pi3B project options and it will also work for 3A+ (so will the Pi2B options).

Everything you need to rebuild FPC and Lazarus (included an appropriate "make") is provided by the installer, simply follow the instructions on the Building from Source page which have been tested on both Windows 7 and Windows 10.

There will be a new installer release to support the Pi4 changes, until then the current one (with the latest RTL) supports every model other than Pi4.

I noticed the new Pi4 stuff in the GitHub, must be getting closer :D

Got a new Win10 PC, that needs sorting out first.
Do I wait for the new release or try again with the old and updating?

Updating the compiler is only step one in the process, now we can move on with attempting to boot the new model to see what else is needed.

The Pi4 update will be a while yet, the current installer plus RTL update (or rebuild from source as per the wiki) should work fine for everything else.
