Re: What about uploading via serial

Hi, well done on the Ultibo platform. I was at the ADUG symposium recently. I saw that it is possible to upload through a webserver and this takes 16 seconds which is not bad. I found this webpage below which shows how to upload to the SD card using a USB-Serial 3.3V cable. Would this be faster or ...

Re: Framebuffer TFT LCDs

This is quite simple. Study the code I have for the SSD1306 oled: https://github.com/billbuzzell/SSD1306_OLED/blob/master/SSD1306_OLED.mod ... TYPE (* Each bit represents a pixel on the screen *) (* Each page can be refreshed invidually *) BitMap = ARRAY MaxX + 1 OF SET; VAR (* In-memory representat...

Re: Oberon on Ultibo!

That's the best SDR display I have seen. SDR has just gone on my list of things to make one day. Use a Zero and USB TV dongle? Don't think we can use Ultibo with LInux SDR driver, yet? RPF have made it a bit hard to use their 7" by putting secret sauce on it. Do not want to RE the Atmel touch ...

Re: Oberon on Ultibo!

GUI with touch on the 7" Pi display? Take a look at this neat chip, the RA8875. This shows the potential of putting all the low level drawing functionality on a dedicated chip. Sort of a "MCU gpu". All the functions are implement via either serial, SPI, or i2c. Imagine this same type...

Re: Oberon on Ultibo!

Ok. Wow. You have FpGUI working with Ultibo? All the pieces look to be falling into place for some really amazing possibilities now. Have a look at one of the bitfiles that is available for the Pipistrello and the Pepino FPGA boards from Saanlima. (Pepino pictured above). Magnus has ported the OpenB...

Re: Oberon on Ultibo!

Oberon is more than just a language, not sure I can get my head around it. It is quite hard to digest it all. Let me try to clarify some. 1) You have the RISC5 processor core written in Verilog. Think of this as an MCU "chip" being fully implemented upon an FPGA fabric...written by Profes...

Re: Oberon on Ultibo!

Hi Gavinmc42, The most valuable resource is at http://ProjectOberon.com . This is the FPGA based implementation of Oberon. "Native Project Oberon" runs on an FPGA and is fully described in Verilog, a "hardware description language". The full RISC-V processor, "the chip"...

Re: Oberon on Utibo!

Shock, horror, greatest thing since sliced bread and you don't have a dozen or so  That's just it. Until Ultibo, the best hope of getting a nice real-time OS meant using a Linux kernel, which is truly overkill and sees no benefits in the real-time performance. It is simply a shrunken Linux d...

Re: Oberon on Utibo!

What is fascinating is that with the "DOS and Windows" we have a "low level OS", DOS, hosting a "high level OS", Windows. Whereas with the Utibo and Oberon it's actually the other way around. Utibo is getting us into deeper "low level" territory, and Oberon is...

Oberon on Ultibo!

Fascinating project! Have you talked with Markus over at the Oberon forum? He has managed to install Oberon to the Rpi using Ultibo. So now you have a full graphical operating system/development environment directly on the Rpi!! How cool? This is the ultimate..."Wirthian" all the way. Free...
