Re: OpenGL

The Lazarus is really "write once, compile everywhere" stuff Yep, the more I use it the more impressed I get and Ultibo is sitting in that Laz/fpc tool chain. I serious doubt any other "baremetal" toolset will be able to get close to Ultibo in usability. I have noticed the OpenG...

Re: OpenGL

Yep Pi4 frame buffer first. If the rest takes a year or two to figure out I'm not worried. The Ultibo and Lazarus/FPC world is mostly unknown to me, much still to explore. Mesa is talking to the VC6 hardware direct, no blob in the way. In theory it should be easier to port, for someone who knows how...

Re: OpenGL

A cut down GLUT replacement in Free Pascal. https://github.com/daar/GLPT Not sure why the gears demo is so slow. So many OpenGL demos and tuts in Delphi and German. But a good place to start is here, at least for some terrain and sky box stuff. http://www.sulaco.co.za/opengl.htm One of the things I ...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 and Ultibo

Nope still pango issues.
Ultibo/Laz/Fpc where the first things I installed on my Pi4B1 but that was with the first release of Buster.
Not sure what the issue is.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 and Ultibo

Buster is broken? New Buster with update/upgrade on a Pi4B2. Ultiboinstall.sh stops at pango1.0, so does apt-get install fpc and apt-get install lazarus. Whatever pango.10 is there is an error when it tries to install, could be my local repo? Will try again without the Raspbian updates, most of thos...

Re: There is a RPi4 on the wild

I found TinyGL. https://bellard.org/TinyGL/ Was looking at porting some of it to the VC4 OpenGLES as a sort of mini FreeGLUT. Making cubes and spheres instead of just triangles. But could it be used on the VC6 too? That Mesa stuff is huge, TinyGL instead of OpenGL. It might be slower but the Pi4 is ...

Re: There is a RPi4 on the wild

(ignoring the major change in graphics functionality) There is so much graphics capability that it would be hard to do it justice anyway. Messing about with OpenGL has just highlighted to me the lack of OpenGLES tools. But I found some interesting examples in the ARM Mali SDK etc. Sure we can do tr...

Re: Ultibo game programming

Am I to understand you guys only want Ultibo related stuff? And you want more content? And less waffle? Good idea about the blog, but I fear most people will not be able to follow my thought processes. The Pi forums tend to support that conclusion. Journals might be interesting, I used to keep them ...

Re: There is a RPi4 on the wild

There is a side effect having a RPi4 and no Ultibo: I am learning Linux configuring and programming fast Yep, learned more Laz/fpc stuff in the last month than the previous two years ;) I have finally grasped OpenGL basics. That means OpenGLES is closer. Tim's ShaderToy demo shows GLSL is working a...
